Thinking about becoming a mediator?
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the employment of mediators to grow 8% through 2026, which is faster than the 7% average for all occupations. We offer mediator mentoring and courses in both basic and family mediation skills that can get you started and that are approved by the Virginia Supreme Court for mediator certification.
Basic Mediation Skills
This program fulfills the 20-hour Basic Mediation Skills requirement for the Virginia State mediator certifications.
This is an intensive 3-day program providing participants with the opportunity to learn basic mediation skills and techniques that are the foundation for all specialized areas of mediation practice. Through a mix of theory and practice, participants will learn the skills, tools, and processes used by mediators. Participants in this program come from diverse professional backgrounds including law, psychology, social work, HR and sectors including non-profit, corporate management, and state and federal agencies.
Family Mediation Skills
This program fulfills the 20-hour Basic Family Mediation Training requirement for Juvenile & Domestic Relations and Circuit Court Family certifications.
This course provides the basic knowledge and skills required for mediating family matters. Attendees will discuss family systems, child custody, visitation, parenting plans, support matters, and related laws and skills. This is an intensive, interactive program. Participants will learn through discussion, simulations, and role-play.
